Scitech announces the availability of a new ground-breaking tool for
neuroscience research designed to obtain reliable data about the size, shape
and complexity of neurons from image stacks and big image data.
Neurolucida 360 from MBF Bioscience allows the user to quickly
reconstruct dendrites, axons, somas, spines and synapses in a 3D environment. It
is difficult to follow a single dendrite in a neuron with significant branching;
the researcher can, therefore, use Neurolucida 360 to rotate the neuron in 3D
to get a better view of the dendrite and continue with the reconstruction.
Working with 3D and 2D images acquired through confocal, two-photon, and
fluorescence microscopes or slide scanners, the new tool can handle very large
images such as whole slide images or images of tissue cleared with CLARITY,
Scale or iDISCO among others.
Key features and benefits of the new Neurolucida 360 tool include
ability to quickly reconstruct somas, dendrites, and axons; fully automatic dendritic
spine detection and classification; and 15 times faster performance in neuron
