Gorman-Rupp’s new Eradicator solids management system helped a Northern
NSW Council resolve chronic choking problems in their digester.
The Council was using a Gorman-Rupp T3A3S-B self-priming sewage pump,
which would choke everyday while turning over the digester. Though the pump was
delivering excellent performance in solids handling, it couldn’t pass all the
rags, causing it to choke.
The Council was advised about Gorman-Rupp’s new Eradicator solids
management system to deal with the pump’s choking problem. The Eradicator
system features an aggressive self-cleaning wear plate incorporating a number
of notches and grooves as well as a patent-pending lacerating tooth that helps
break up stringy materials such as rags, scrape them off the impeller vanes,
and pass them through the pump without impacting or interrupting the pump’s performance.
A special cover plate with the system also includes a patented
lightweight inspection cover that can easily be removed, if necessary, to
inspect pump internals.
Available on all Gorman-Rupp Super T Series pump models, the Eradicator
system allows the range to achieve flows from 5 LPS through to 150 LPS and
deliver heads to 40 metres, while working on suction lifts to 7.6 metres. Being
self priming pumps, they can be located at ground level, giving operators easy
and safe access for monitoring or service. Operators can also complete clearance
adjustments, oil changes and general inspections in minutes, leading to massive
savings over the life of the pump.
The new Eradicator system was installed into the Council’s existing
Gorman-Rupp T3 pump, which then ran for three months without a single choking
The Eradicator system is available from Hydro Innovations.
